The NTC temperature sensor and extension cable are moulded together using a high grade thermoplastic material. This unique process provides a high degree of protection against extreme and harsh environmental conditions. The probe is also available in a stainless steel housing (316)for additional mechanical protection. Other temperature sensor types such as PT 100 &PT 1000 can also be supplied in this probe assembly for specific applications.
Reliability Testing
Betatherm have carried out freeze/thaw thermal cycling on the over-moulded temperature probe.The thermal cycle testing involved the freezing of the probe head in conjunction with water-spray to expose the probe to 'ice-crush ' conditions.The temperature of the probe is then rapidly elevated using a hot air-stream that thaws the ice around the probe head.The total thermal cycle time involved is 30 minutes.The probes have been tested to 5,000 cycles under these extreme conditions.
